(x) Bank Markazi, Iran, [17 notes] 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 Rials, ND (1979), the Islamic Revolutionary Government wished to remove the image of Mohammad Reza Shah from all banknotes following the 1979 revolution. Thus, the remaining notes were overprinted with assorted colours and designs. This collection of notes has the following overprints: calligraphy (2); large X over the portrait (11); seal (3); arabesque (1)
