(g) Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereign, 1873 [Die 1], C in VICTORIA almost 'closed', second larger young head, W.W. in relief on truncation, rev. crowned normal shield in wreath, edge milled, 7.97g, 7h (MCE 535; Marsh 57; Bentley 1201; Spink 3853B), softness to high points and a small scratch to right of date, otherwise subtle ochre-toning and residual lustre, a pleasingly good very fine
