(g) Victoria (1837-1901), 'Shieldback' Sovereign, 1864 'Stub-top 4' [Die 56], second larger young head, W.W. incuse on truncation, rev. crowned normal shield in wreath, edge milled, 7.98g, 7h (Marsh 49; Bentley 124; MCE 525; Spink 3853), a small bump at reverse 6 o'clock, with light cabinet friction across otherwise residually lustrous fields with warming hints of orange-red peripheral tone, a pleasingly good very fine / almost extremely fine
