Great Britain: Aircraft Manufacturing Co. Ltd., £1 'B' preference shares, 19[17], #852, Established in 1912 and grew rapidly during WWI known by its acronym of AIRCO. Controlled by George Holt Thomas, The designs of its aircraft were by Geoffrey de Havilland, later to create a company of his own and were designated DH. By the end of WWI it employed some 4400 people but was liquidated in 1920 after war work had diminished the company's business. The assets were acquired by de Havilland and he formed De Havilland Aircraft Company Limited. VF.
