The cataloguer notes similarities to Lingford's reverse die 16 (vide: i. 1950 Sale, Lot 12 / ii. Glendining, 13 May 1992, lot 252* / iii. Glendining, 25-26 November 1981, lot 290*) and die 17 (vide: Sale, Lot 13 / Lockett 1895). However, it is clear from the positioning of the colon stops, the absence of any after POSVI and the 'small' mintmark after MEV': that this reverse die differs from both. In comparison with reverse die 3 (vide: Sale, Lot 5), the size of the reverse pyx-mark affords us a suitable parallel, but again suffers from minor punctuation differences. This unrecorded reverse die was not noted at its last public appearance, but has been recorded by a well-regarded industry expert on two other coins - (SJA 11, 8 May 2009, lot 51* - gilt and pierced, fine) and (Glendining, 9-10 December 1987, lot 551* - fine).
