1840 (4 Dec.) letter from Civitavecchia addressed to Captain Alessandro Cialdi, Comandante La Flottiglia Pontificia (commander of Papal Navy) in Alexandria, Egypt. The entire showing neat comandante le scorridore doganali civitavecchia handstamp. With interesting content in which commander Vittorio Palma congratulates with Captain Cialdi for his arrival in Egypt. A possible unique item from the Papal Navy, detailed S.P.R. Certificate (2016).
Note: In September 1840 the expedition commanded by Captain Cialdi set sail for Egypt, to go up the Nile and collect the alabaster columns donated by the Viceroy of Egypt for the reconstructed basilica of 'San Paolo fuori le mura'. The expedition successfully came back to Civitavecchia on 16th August 1841.
