1819 (29 Mar.) letter written "on board of ' The Indiaman' at Anchor in Achin Roads" addressed to Dover, rated 2/2 via Penang and India, showing framed '
Note: After founding Singapore 6th February 1819, Sir Stamford Raffles left on the following day for Penang. Around one month later, after obtaining troops from the Governor, Sir Stamford left for Achin, Sumatra where he planned to establish a British presence, landing the island on the 14th March. This letter written on the 29th March "...We have been a fortnight at anchor. I hope in a few days we shall return to Penang.."
