1945 (24 May) incoming mail from Italy to Rhodes bearing Italian stamps for 1,05l., on arrival (11.10) the cover was taxed by postage due stamps 2d. agate and 3d. violet (2) plus one stamp lost in transit, alongside marked "to pay" with '13,40l.' in manuscript and censor cachet and label. A very rare taxed cover. illustrated on Sirotti-Taroni "Le Occupazioni britanniche delle colonie italiane 1941-1950", page 346, ill.375 . Sassone €37,500.
