A framed portrait photograph of Sub-Lieutenant J. Neilson, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, very fine

John Neilson was born at Glasgow in 1921 and served aboard H.M.S. Courageous. Still with her when she was sunk by a U-Boat in September 1939, he survived by swimming until rescued and also helped a number of shipmates to safety; sold together with a handwritten historical note and copied research including a survivors list and census data.
