Ex-Robert W. & Irina V. Farquhar Collection. Robert was an American mission design specialist who worked for NASA and Academician of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the International Academy of Astronautics. They were acquired with the help of Professor Kuninory T. Uesugi in Japan whilst Farquhar was working assisting JAXA. Irina is a Corresponding Member of the International Academy of Astronautics.

Given the high embellishment to the saya, perhaps an item produced for the export market from Japan.
