The Gold Brunei Coronation Medal awarded to Major A. F. Stubbs, M.B.E., Royal Signals

Brunei, Sultanate, Coronation 1968 (Pingat Puspa), gold issue (41.5g), by Spink & Son, 38mm, nearly extremely fine, in its fitted case of issue

Tests as approximately 80% gold.

A. F. Stubbs was born in June 1917 and served in India and Poona during the Second World War. His postings included Germany, France, Singapore and Brunei. He was commissioned from Regimental Sergeant-Major of 19th (Air Formation) Signal Regiment at Changi in Singapore in 1958 and went as Lieutenant to 17th Gurkha Signal Regiment in Seremban, Malaya.

From Malaya in 1960 he was posted to 4 Divisional Signal Regiment in Westphalia as a Captain Quartermaster. It was as Camp Commandant at Bolkiah Camp in Brunei in 1968 that he earned the Gold Coronation Medal. Retired as a Major, he was a staunch member of the Royal Signals Association until his death in January 2007.
