Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (3042. Pte. J. Bailey. 12th. Lancers.), good very fine

James Bailey, of Exeter in Devon, attested for military service in 12 September 1876, initially with the 2nd Dragoon Guards before transferring to the 12th Royal Lancers in 1887. Recommended for his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in October 1894, he was discharged in 1896 having served mostly 'at home' with a short spell in India between 1885-87.
