Dennis Harvey Montroy enlisted into the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders on 21 June 1940 and is confirmed in his Service Record as having landed in France on D-Day (6 June 1944) with his unit. They were thrown straight into the thick of the Normandy Battles and the next entry for Montroy is redacted and dated 15 June 1944, whilst he clearly was sent back to the United Kingdom for further treatment. He returned to France on 30 July 1944 to share in the Battles of the Falaise Gap and is further confirmed as having been Wounded in Action in the Regimental History. He was discharged Lance-Corporal at Kingston, Ontario on 2 February 1946.
With the outbreak of the Korean War, Montroy re-enlisted on 25 May 1951 and joined the Signals Troop of the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. He served with 1 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery on operations from April 1952-May 1953. Montroy joined Z Battery (Parachute) in August 1953 and was finally discharged from the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals on 20 April 1969; sold together with copied Service Record.
