William Poyntz Bush was born at Chertsey, Surrey on 9 October 1892 the son of John and Mary Bush. Working as a Dock Clerk on the outbreak of the Great War he enlisted as Private in the East Surrey Regiment with the numbers T/2639 and later 240791. He was later commissioned Lieutenant, notably a Poyntz Bush was commissioned to the General List on 28 April 1917 although 1 man of that name received an M.I.C. and he was never commissioned. Bush entered the war in Aden on 7 November 1918, he was later advanced Captain while General Staff Officer Grade 3 on 25 August 1919; sold together with copied research.
