Patrick Wall was born at Kilkenny, Ireland in 1895 and attested with the 4th (Militia) Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment on 10 December 1912. Mobilised for service on 6 August 1914 he entered the war in France on 10 March 1915. Posted to Salonika on 28 November 1915 he appears to have contracted malaria whilst there for which he later received a pension. Surviving his illness Wall joined the rest of 10th (Irish) Division in Egypt where he served until the end of the war. Finally he was demobilised on 4 May 1919.
