(x) The Great War Casualty groups to the Ogden brothers who both served in the Manchester Regiment and who were both killed in action during the Great War

Three: Private W. Ogden, Manchester Regiment

1914-15 Star Trio (12801 Pte. W. Ogden. Manch. R.), good very fine (3)

Pair: Private H. Ogden, Manchester Regiment

British War and Victory Medals (25937 Pte. H. Ogden. Manch. R.), extremely fine (5)

William Ogden was born at Beswick and enlisted at Manchester. He served in France from 8 November 1915 was killed in action on 23 July 1916 whilst serving with the 19th Battalion. His Medal Index Card notes 'Death Assumed 23/7/16'. Ogden is buried in the Delville Wood Cemetery, Longueval.

Harry Ogden was born and enlisted at Manchester. He was killed in action on 21 April 1918 whilst serving with the 12th Battalion, and is buried in the Forceville Communal Cemetery and Extension.

They were both the sons William and Sarah Ogden, of Beswick, Manchester.

The lot includes two privately produced silk memorials with typed details and with small portrait photographs of them in uniform.
