Thomas Edward Horry entered the war in France on 5 November 1914 with the 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Promoted Lance Corporal he was awarded for his service with a 'mention' on 15 October 1915 (London Gazette 1 January 1916, refers). Given the date and the actions undertaken by the Battalion it is likely this award relates to the Battle of Neuve Chappelle.
