South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1879 (1114. Pte. P. Flynn. 88th Foot.), good very fine

Patrick Flynn was born in 1855 at Annadown, County Galway and joined the 88th Regiment of Foot (Connaught Rangers) on 23 November 1876. He deserted from 27 October 1877-16 June 1878 and was tried by Court Martial the next day, being sentenced to 84 days in prison as a result. Having been released he served in South Africa from 2 August 1878-2 October 1879 and shared in the Zulu campaign (Medal & clasp). Flynn continued to find his name in the Defaulters Book and was eventually discharged from the 2nd Battalion, Connaught Rangers in October 1889.
