India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Hazara 1888 (2056 Pte J. Murphy 2d Bn R. Ir. R.) very fine

John Murphy was born at St.Johns, Waterford, Ireland. He enlisted at Clonmel on 25 August 1885. He served in India from 22 October 1885. His service papers note that he attempted suicide by cutting his throat on 15 October 1889. He finished his service in India on 8 July 1890 and was found medically unfit for further service and consequently discharged on 8 July 1890.
