(x) Turkish Crimea 1855, British issue, fitted with replacement Crimea-style suspension (S. Wilkinson. 88th), polished good fine
Samuel Wilkinson attested into the 88th as a Boy with the number 2713 on 3 October 1851. Seeing action in the Crimean War he is additionally entitled to a medal with clasps Alma, Inkerman and Sebastopol as well as a medal for the Indian Mutiny with clasp Central India.
Discharged on 30 March 1876 having reached the rank of Drum Major, Wilkinson listed his intended place of residence as the Cork District Lunatic Asylum. However he re-enlisted on 6 August 1877 into the Royal Lancaster Regiment and remained with them until 30 April 1890.
