William Gibson was born in 1888 and also served in 860 Labour Company; sold together with Separation Allowance & Allotment of Pay to his wife, together with a series of silk postcards to his family.
William Gibson was born at Newcastle on 25 June 1913, the son of the above. During the Second World War he served at Dunkirk and latterly in the Western Desert with the 72nd (Northumbrian) Field Regiment, being made a Prisoner of War on 1 June 1942. His unit was overrun on the Ualeb position near the Rotunda Ualeb, between Trigh El Abd and Trigh Cappuzzo and was held at Stalag XIX A (Altengrabow). Returned home, Gibson was living at 17 Jesmond Vale Terrace, Heaton Road and applied for his Medals in the late 1980s; sold together with a good quantity of original wartime paperwork, his POW identity tag and correspondence related to issue of Medals, Certificate for the Dunkirk Commemorative, besides copied research.
