William H Larrett was born 11 April 1892, a native of Eyke, Suffolk moved to Bishop's Stortford in 1914. A mechanic by trade, he worked at the Chequers hotel garage before the war and afterwards at the Herts & Essex Hospital. He became fire chief in 1937 and was made company officer during the Second World War and was involved in the fire fighting at Norwich when the bombing raids occurred. He died in Bishop's Stortford in 1968; sold together with the original entitlement slips.
