Army L.S. & G.C., V.R. (Staff Sergt J. Power, Gen: Staff), officially impressed naming, contact marks and polishing overall, almost very fine

Joseph Power was born at Dublin in 1831 and was a Labourer prior to enlistment and attested into the 15th Foot at Limerick on 10 June 1845 at the age of 15. He transferred to the Permanent Staff of Gibraltar on 1 June 1857 as a 3rd Class Military Staff Clerk and was then transferred to the Permanent Staff at Chatham on 9 October 1864. He had served a total of 9 years and 253 days at Ceylon and 8 years and 80 days at Gibraltar.

He was discharged at Chatham on 25 September 1869 and became the Garrison Librarian at Chatham and died on 19 January 1894.
