A good M.S.M. group of seven awarded to Sergeant A. H. Yorke, 2nd Battalion, (Queen's Own) Royal West Kent Regiment, late Royal Sussex Regiment, who was attached to the Civil Police Railway Service for the 1911 Delhi Durbar

Arthur Harry Yorke was born in 1890 at Chichester, Sussex, the son of Colour-Sergeant David Yorke. Young Yorke joined the Royal Sussex Regiment aged 14 in December 1903. In 1907 he left with the Battalion for India where he stayed for the duration of the First World War. He was present at the Delhi Durbar in 1911 and qualified for the Delhi Durbar Medal whilst attached to the Civil Police Railway Service. In 1917 he joined the Indian Unattached List (British War and Victory Medals only - not entitled to 1914-15 Star) and transferred to the 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment who were serving in India in 1922. He retired from the Army in 1930 and died in London on 2 September 1963.

He is visibly wearing the group as it appears in a 1926 Regimental photograph.
