Iraq 2004 (25136729 Gnr J Chadwick RA); UN medal for Cyprus, nearly extremely fine (2)
Jamie Chadwick was born on 23 September 1984 and enlisted at Liverpool on 31 July 2001 with the Royal Regiment of Artillery. The Regiment was posted to Iraq in June 2003 as part of Operation Telic 2 seeing action in the Az Zubayar, Um Qasr and Al Faw provinces. Their role here was as infantry, with an emphasis on counter-smuggling and looting as well as aiding in reconstruction efforts.
It was while undertaking these operations that Chadwick was awarded his commendation, in August 2003. While no citation has survived the recipient states it was given as a result of good work during a night patrol when dissidents attempted to steal equipment from the Royal Engineers. Immediately following this the unit was sent to Cyprus as part of Operation Tosca and tasked with a security role in Sector 2- Nicosia. Here their task largely involved keeping the peace between the Greek Cypriots and the Turks in the North.
Chadwick was released into the Army Reserve on 22 September 2006 with his Military Conduct declared to have been 'exemplary'. During his time with the Regiment he had passed courses in Leadership, Signalling and Gunner Command Systems; sold together with a typed biography and copied research including attestation, service and discharge papers as well as an original photograph with the recipient identified and a C.D. labelled 'Op Telic Stuff'.
