Three: Squadron-Leader H. Horton, Royal Air Force, whose many years of service as an N.C.O. led to a commission in 1940

Henry Horton was born on 23 June 1896 and enlisted with the Royal Air Force after the end of the First World War. Seeing service on the Northwest Frontier between 1930-31 (medal and clasp) as a Flight Sergeant he was soon awarded the Royal Air Force LS. & G.C. on 1 January 1937. Advanced Warrant Officer later that year on 22 November 1937 while with No. 24 Training Group at West Drayton Horton was still in service upon the outbreak of the Second World War.

Commissioned Flying Officer with the Technical Branch Signals on 4 July 1940 Horton was awarded a new service number 44203 at the same time. Advanced Flight Lieutenant on 1 June 1942 and Squadron Leader on 1 July 1942. Retiring after the war on 3 January 1953 Horton retained the rank of Squadron Leader; sold together with typed research.
