Henry James Croucher was born at Hull on 13 April 1875 and enlisted at London on 13 October 1892, receiving his L.S. & G.C. medal on 25 June 1911. Originally discharged on 13 April 1914 he re-enlisted on 2 August 1914 and served on Portsmouth Division and Victory during the Great War, he was discharged as invalided with tuberculosis on 18 October 1916. Croucher died the next year on 4 January 1917 and is buried in Portsmouth (Kingston) Cemetery; sold together with a copied Commonwealth War Graves certificate.
