Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Paardeberg, Transvaal (3985. Corpl. G. E. Storr. 2/Linc. Regt.); King's South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (3985 Serjt: G. Storr. Lincoln: Regt.), minor wear, very fine (2)

George Edward Storr was born at Spalding, Lincolnshire in 1873 and worked as a Grocer prior to enlisting on 4 September 1894. He saw home service until the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War which he joined on 1 April 1900. Coming into action at the Battle of Paardeburg the Battalion was one of those assigned to prevent Boer reinforcements reaching General Conje's Laager. It was here that Storr was severely injured by a bullet to the back on 21 February 1900.

Despite his wound he was not out of action for too long and continued to see service in South Africa, returning to Britain on 22 June 1901. It was not to be his last time in the country however as Storr returned the next year on 2 April 1902 and remained for another two years. He returned to Britain for the final time on 3 May 1904 and was discharged soon afterwards on 1 June 1904. Returning to Spalding he opened W. E. Storr & Sons, which was still operated by the family in 1993. His son James Storr served with the Royal Signals during the invasion of Sicily; sold together with medal rolls, an extract from the recipient's service papers and information on the Storr family in Spalding.
