General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya (2/Lt. C. C. Surtees. Queens.), mounted for wear, official corrections to rank and regiment, good very fine

Christopher Conyers Surtees was born in September 1935 and commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in The Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey) on 5 February 1955. Serving with the 1st Battalion in Malaya (Medal and Clasp), he later worked in The City of London and died in May 2019 at the age of 83. For the Medals of his father, Lieutenant-Colonel Conyers Alfred Surtees, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and British Army Staff in Washington, see Lot 655.

Sold together with the correctly-labelled box of issue, a corresponding miniature Dress medal, and a .925 silver medallion to commemorate the opening of the new Stock Exchange building in November 1972, by John Pinches, in its presentation case and engraved to the reverse: 'Christopher Conyers Surtees'.
