1914-15 Star (2. Lieut. H. E. T. Wilkinson. York. Hrs.), good very fine

Henry Edward Thornton Wilkinson served with the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, The Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) as Lieutenant from 9 September 1896. He volunteered for service with the 2nd Imperial Light Horse during the Anglo-Boer War as 2nd Lieutenant (Q.S.A. and K.S.A.). With this unit he saw action during the Battle of Elandslaagte and later the Defence of Ladysmith.

Surviving the war he returned to Britain and, on the outbreak of the Great War, immediately volunteered for service being commissioned 2nd Lieutenant with the Yorkshire Hussars on 10 September 1914. Entering the war on 15 April 1915 (British War and Victory Medals) with this unit and serving for some time, however ill-health began to catch up with him and he was discharged on 15 August 1917. Wilkinson retired tp Seafield Park, Fareham, Hampshire with the Honorary rank of 2nd Lieutenant. However he was not to remain there long, applying for his medals on 2 November 1921 from Le Rette Farm, Battle, Sussex; sold together with copied research comprising M.I.C., medal rolls and London Gazette entry as well as a Silver War Badge approval list.
