1914-15 Star (175071, T. H. Ferguson, L.S., R.N.), very fine

Thomas Henry Ferguson was born at St. Pancras on 15 April 1877 and enlisted on 15 April 1893 as a Boy Class II. He served with a number of vessels including Resolution, Edgar and Suffolk. Joining Dartmouth on 2 September 1913 as Leading Seaman he was still with her on the outbreak of War. This light cruiser started the war in India and was part of the hunt for the Königsberg, engaging her on 2 November 1914. Unfortunately the German warship was too far into the Rufiji Delta to be properly targeted.

Leaving her on 30 June 1915, he was posted to Argyll on 13 October, only two weeks before she was run aground and wrecked on Bell Rock, Dundee. He closed out the war with the convoy sloop H.M.S. Silene and was discharged on 6 February 1919.
