Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith (1728 Cpl S. Lowther, Devon: Regt), with unofficial silver suspension bar, good very fine

Samuel Lowther was born in 1873 and joined the Devonshire Regiment as a Boy, he was posted to India in 1887 aboard the Serapis. A Lance-Corporal by the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War Lowther served with the 2nd Battalion, Devonshire Regiment being invalided on 31 March 1900. He died in August 1923; sold together with copied research comprising a medal roll, embarkation lists and pension transcription.
