A 'Keree Sidings 1900' casualty's Q.S.A. to Private J. Shore, 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment

C. Shore served with the 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment during the Anglo-Boer War and took part in the Battle of Keree Sidings in March 1900. After the capture of Bloemfontein earlier in the month British forces concentrated near Keree Sidings from 28 March. Here they clashed with a Boer force under General Tobias Smuts on 29 March. Shore was one of two men of the Lincolnshire Regiment killed in action that day, he is remembered upon the Lincoln Cathedral Boer War memorial.
