Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State (6475 Pte. T. Harwood. L. N. Lanc:Regt.), note misspelled surname, good very fine

Tom Horwood was born at Burnley, Lancashire in 1881 and worked as a Spinner in a Cotton Mill prior to enlisting with the 3rd (Militia) Battalion, Loyal North Lancashire Regiment on 7 August 1899. Embodied for service on 13 December 1899 and entered the war with the Battalion. Posted out to join the 17th Battalion, Mounted Infantry Horwood was with them at Rondekraal, Cape Colony on 11 November 1901. He is listed as having been 'slightly wounded' during the fighting there but continued to serve with the Battalion until 16 September 1902 when he was disembodied from service; sold together with a copied casualty roll and information on the Mounted Infantry.
