Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Cape Colony (5483 Pte W. McDermott. 17th Lancers), good very fine

William McDermott was born at Wrexham, Derbyshire in 1881 and enlisted for Corps of Lancers on 27 December 1900. Posted to South Africa on 25 March 1902 he served with the British columns attempting to clear the mountain districts for several months. Suffering from ill-health McDermott returned to Britian on 9 July 1902 and was invalided from service on 1 October 1902; sold together with copied service papers.
