India General Service 1895-1908, 3 clasps, Punjab Frontier 1897-98, Tirah 1897-98, Waziristan 1901-2 (Lieut. J. S. Swan. Comst. Transpt. Deptt.), very fine

John Stewart Swan was born on 24 January 1868 and was commissioned into the King's Own Scottish Borderers on 21 December 1889; Captain 27 July 1892; Captain Indian Supply Corps 21 January 1893; Major 21 December 1900. Confirmed on rolls for all three clasps, later noted Lieutenant Colonel Supply and Transport Corps in 1919 as Director of Supplies.

The Waziristan 1901-02 entry states "Served beyond the Zhob valley up to Mir Ali Khel between the 23rd November 1901 and 15th February 1902". Captain at this time being part of the Supply and Transport Corps of Bombay Command.
