Richard Peardon served with the Devonshire Regiment in Burma (medal and clasp Burma 1889-92) and South Africa. He saw service in the Second Anglo Boer War taking part in the Defence of Ladysmith and later the Battle of Belfast (medal and clasps). He remained in the country until 1902 (medal and clasps), before returning to Britain where he was discharged at Exeter on 26 June 1904.
