Egypt 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, Suakin 1885 (5509. Pte. J. W. Long., M.S.Corps), named on a previously erased medal, light contact marks very fine

John William Long was born at Brighton and was a Labourer prior to joining the Army on 16 June 1881, he serves in Malta from 15 January 1882- 4 May 1884, return to the United Kingdom until he is sent to Egypt from 17 February 1885 - 7 July 1885. He spends the remainder of his service in the United Kingdom until he was discharged on 15 June 1893.

His service papers note a new medal was issued and forwarded to him at his expense on 29 July 1891.
