Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Kabul (53. Pte. C. East. 2/9th Foot.), minor contact marks, very fine

Charles East served with the Norfolk Regiment and saw action during the Jokawi Expedition and the Second Afghan War. Leaving the army in June 1885 he became an 'In Pensioner' with the Royal Hospital Chelsea on 13 June 1924. During this time he was photographed and his image is now immortalised in 'The Boys of the Old Brigade - The Royal Norfolk Regiment'. He died on 13 December 1932 and is buried at the Chelsea Hospital Cemetery, Brookwood; sold together with typed research copied research comprising correspondence and a newspaper clipping.
