An Officer's shoulder-belt plate, Loyal Durham Fencibles

Silver, engraved to centre with Royal Cypher, this surrounded by a belt containing the title Loyal Durham Fencibles, hallmarks for 1795, test marks to reverse, all three reverse fittings present, 60mm x 76mm, polished, thus good fine

Contained in a small card box, the interior annotated in ink: Badge: Loyal Durham Fencibles, circa 1795 and to the reverse: Bought 1933, (27/6)

The Loyal Durham Regiment of Fencible Infantry was raised in 1795 and, after garrison service on Gurnsey was sent to Ireland in May 1797. They participated in the second Battle of Arklow (9 June 1798) - a British victory - and were disbanded in 1802.
