Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (3574 Q.M.Sjt. A. Russell E[...] Regt), attempted erasure of initial and unit, minor contact marks, very fine

Alfred Russell served with the Essex Regiment during the Boer War (two medals with clasps) and the Great War (Medals). Receiving his L.S. & G.C. in 1915 he did not join the B.E.F. but was instead promoted to Quartermaster Sergeant-Major. Unfortunately his health began to decline and Russell was discharged on 25 February 1915.
