A poignant Great War M.M. awarded to Lance-Corporal A. C. Todd, 7th Battalion, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment, who was killed in action on the First Day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916

Military Medal, G.V.R. (17244 L. Cpl. A. C. Todd. 7/York: R.), nearly extremely fine

M.M. London Gazette 16 February 1917.

Andrew Carswell Todd was born in 1883, the son of William Todd of 1130 Argyle Street, Glasgow. He served in France with the 7th Battalion, Princess of Wales's Own Yorkshire Regiment from 1916 and was killed in action on 1 July 1916, being buried in the Fricourt British Cemetery. It seems highly likely that his award was earned for gallantry on that famous day; sold together with copied research.
