D.C.M. London Gazette 3 September 1918:

'When his gun emplacement was blown in, he promptly brought his gun into the open and silenced enemy machine guns at close range. Next day, though practically surrounded, he kept his team working, and set a splendid example of grit and determination.'

Bertrand G. Mayhew and also served with the Middlesex Regiment (No. 15/5011).
