Edgar Oliver Burton was born at Dudley, Worcestershire in 1896. He served in the ranks of the Royal Army Medical Corps (No. 78133) in France from 10 April 1916 and served with the 16th Field Ambulance. Having twice been admitted to hospital with 'debility' in November 1916 and April 1917, he was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Somerset Light Infantry on 26 March 1918. His E.D. was awarded in September 1938 whilst he was with the 5th Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers. Burton died at Formby in June 1965.
