British War and Victory Medals (2. Lieut. N. Benton.), very fine (2)

Norman Benton was born at Wolverhampton and worked as a Clerk in Market Drayton, Selop before the outbreak of war. Enlisting with the Works Department of the Royal Engineers at Manchester on 14 March 1915. Entering the war in France on 26 April 1915 he served here for the next few years before being selected for a temporary commission. Benton was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 14 December 1917 and posted to the 715th Trench Mortar Company, Royal Field Artillery where he served until the end of the war; sold together with a copied M.I.C.
