John Lockhart Stephens served in France from 13 January 1915 (1914-15 Star) with the 3rd (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) and was killed in action during their famous charge at Neuve Chapelle on 10 March 1915. Details of that gallant stand is evidenced in the images which accompany this Lot. Stephens is buried in the Royal Irish Rifles Cemetery, Laventie.
