William Brinkworth enlisted in the Grenadier Guards on 30 September 1913 and went to France with the 2nd Battalion on 4 January 1915. He was admitted to Rouen Hospital in May 1915 with a hernia and was discharged on account of wounds with a Silver War Badge on 29 March 1919; sold together with original Second and Third Class Certificates of Education and slip for the Silver War Badge.
