India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Samana 1891 (1002 Pte R. Sharpe 2d Bn Manch. R.), good very fine

Robert Sharpe was born at Halkestone, Kent in 1864 and worked as a Carter prior to enlisting at Shornecliffe on 18 December 1884. Joining the Manchester Regiment he was posted to India with the 2nd Battalion on 2 January 1886. While here he served on the Miranzai Expedition, 1891 which occupied the Samana mountain range. Returning to Britain on 16 January 1893 he was posted to the Army Reserve later that month on 25 January. Sharpe was finally discharged on 17 December 1896.
