1899 unstamped Soldier's envelopes (2) shipped in consecutive days (1st and 2nd AP 1899) marked "On special service, no stamps available. F.H. Howe Lt. 1st. West African Frontier Force" addressed to London, showing a fair strike of "the royal niger company,/chartered & limited./post office,/burutu" framed datestamp (Sacher Type 8) in violet, the reverse with Liverpool Br. Packet and London c.d.s.; usual minor creases and imperfections though a scarce duo from this Frontier Force.
