Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III, 'The Great' (336-323 BC) AV Stater, Lampsakos, late lifetime/early posthumous issue struck under Antipater I, c. 325-319, Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet ornamented with a coiled serpent, with a pearl necklace rev. ALEXANDROY Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis, trident to left field, 8.61g (Price 172) Slight softening to uppermost details, but richly toned and lustrous, well-struck with a characterful portrait, a minute scuff to the upper left of reverse but otherwise good very fine
